Unfortunately, Reagan County doesn’t maintain an online inmate roster list. However, you can locate an inmate fast if you call at 903-473-5000 ext. 280 and make a direct inquiry about a prisoner to the jail administration.
The jail originally had 32 beds in 1999 and was expanded to 96 beds a few years later to house federal prisoners. When this ended, the jail housed overflows from Lubbock and Midland counties until those entities built new and expanded facilities.
Inmates who need to be detained longer than 72 hours will be moved to the jail in Rankin due to budget cuts at the Reagan jail.
Jail Policies and Procedures
The visitation rules at Reagan County Jail requires you to submit a proof of identification before visiting an inmate. Besides, your name must be on the list of the pre-approved visitor’s list. You can visit a prisoner from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You can send letters to the prisoners at Reagan County Jail through the US Postal Service. When you are sending a letter, be sure to include the name of the sender, address, and ID number of the inmate correctly. All mails are checked for contraband before being delivered to the prisoners.
When it comes to making contact from the jail, all prisoners are allowed to make calls from the prison using pre-paid phone cards. Note that the prisoners need to buy these cards from the commissary store.
While in custody of the jail, every prisoner needs funds for purchasing products or services from the commissary store. Therefore, you can send funds through money orders or cashier’s check. You can make a deposit to an inmate’s account in person.
Bail and Bondsman
Reagan County Jail allows you or anyone to bail someone out of jail. The bail procedure includes a set amount of money that you have to pay to get your release from police custody. As part of the release, you are obliged to appear in court for all of your scheduled court hearings and proceedings. Note that if you appear in court in time for all of your hearings, the court will return your bail amount. In any case, you miss any of the scheduled proceedings; you would forfeit the bail amount. Thus, you will be arrested immediately.
Typically, the court will have a bail hearing in which the court will decide whether you deserve bail. If yes, then the court will decide how much amount you should pay as bail amount. If your bail amount is too high, you can contract a licensed commercial bail bond agent to pay and ensure your bond. A bail bondsman will charge you a nonrefundable fee, like – a minimum of $100 or 10-20% of the total bail amount. If you fail to appear for the court proceedings, the bail bond agent will pay the bail amount.
