The first Bee County Jail was built in 1874 just west of the courthouse. In 1893 a new jail was built. The first jail, was a wooden structure lined with cast iron, now sits on the grounds of the Sheriff’s Office.
The current jail was built in 1989 and is a medium security level jail. Be sure to call the jail to determine if your inmate is incarcerated in this jail.
Ground was broken on a new $25 million county jail in March of 2018. The facility will house officers and a training center for the sheriff and deputies It will also include a dispatch center. The jail will have 142 beds and include an infirmary, clinic, laundry, food service, investigations
officers, and the call center.
