The Texarkana Police Department is responsible for maintaining law and order in Texarkana, the department delivers effective and efficient services to the city residents while protecting their individual’s rights. The department has been recognized by the Texas Police Chiefs Association Best Practices Recognition Program since 2008. The department has three main divisions: Administration, Support Services Division (Criminal Investigation Services, Professional Standards and Recruiting Services, Property and Evidence Control Units, Public Information and Community Services) and Uniform Services Division (Traffic Safety Services, Uniform Patrol). Specialized units include Bi-State Narcotics Task Force, Crime Prevention, Crime Scene Unit, Field Training Unit, K-9 Unit, Problem Oriented Policing Team, Regulatory Affairs, School Resource Officers, S.W.A.T and Traffic Enforcement Unit.
