The Schertz Police Department is committed to providing professional and exemplary law enforcement services to the residents of the City of Schertz. In order to achieve its objectives, the police department is using community partnerships to maintain high quality-of-life and rich business opportunities that area residents and businesses are appreciating. The department has a number of divisions which include Investigations Division (Regional Crime Victims Liaison, School Resource Office, and SWAT), Support Service Division (Communications Unit, Records) and Uniform Services Division (K-9 Program).
The Schertz Police Department is headed by Michael Hansen who is the chief of police. Chief Hansel begun his career in 1978, he worked with the City of Conroe Police where he served for 29 years. Chief Hansen has had the opportunity to work with different departments in his career which include crime scene investigations, patrol, K-9 unit, reserves, dispatch, records and honor guard. He is helped in his duties by Marc Bane who is the Assistant Chief of Police. The Municipal Court is responsible for issuing of warrants in the city. You will be issued with a warrant if you violate your promise to appear on your citation or fail to comply with the orders of the court.
