The Pasadena Police’s Criminal Investigation Partition is comprised of four sections; Crimes Against Individuals, Crimes Against Possessions, Special Application Section (SES), and the Medical Section. Combined, the segments are staffed with 77 people, including 3 deputies, 1 administrator, and 7 sergeants. There are presently 20 Crimes Against Persons Investigators, 8 Crimes Against Possessions Detectives, including one arson detective from the Pasadena Fire Department, and 9 Investigators assigned to our Unusual Investigation Unit (Vice/Narcotics). The additional employees are assigned to SES and the Scientific team.
Detectives are usually assigned to precise crime types, Crimes Against Individuals or Crimes Against Property. The Crimes Against Individuals Section is included of multiple units; Homicide-Assault, Robbery, Coercion, Sexual Assault, 290 Sex Registrant Pursuing, and Youth and Family Facilities (YFS). YFS staffs investigate crimes of Domestic Fierceness, Child Abuse, Elder Exploitation, Crimes Happening on School Campuses, and the Youth Answerability Board (YAB). YAB is youth interference program for first-time offenders. The Crimes Against Property Segment is included of Residential Burglary, Profitable Burglary, Forgery/Fraud/Uniqueness Theft, Auto Theft-Auto Theft, Special Inquiries (Vice/Narcotics), Arson, Fugitive Trepidation and Subpoena Control. One investigator is also assigned to a multi-agency mission forces battling high-level narcotic distribution.
