The Lufkin Police Department is mainly focused to provide the highest quality service that promotes and maintains a safe environment in partnership with the community. The department is made up of s number of divisions which include Administration, Patrol division, Investigations division, Traffic division and Communications-911.
The Lufkin Police Department is headed by Gerald Williamson who is the current Chief of Police. Chief Williamson began his law enforcement career in Polk County, Texas in 1984, where he served as a reserve officer for Livingston Police Department and a reserve deputy for Polk County Sheriff’s Office. In august 1987, he moved to Lufkin Police Department where he served as an officer. While at Lufkin Police Department he has experience working with Criminal Investigations, Patrol, Narcotics and Support Services sections. He was appointed as the Assistant Police Chief of Police in August 2009 and later as the chief of police. He is assisted in his duties by David Thomas who is the Assistant Police Chief.
