The Hurst Police Department
The Hurst Police Department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency and is responsible for providing 24-hour law enforcement services to the city residents. The department is a diverse community-based agency offering professional, modern and courteous service to the residents of the Northeast Tarrant County area and the city of Hurst. The department has two divisions, Operational Services and Administrative Services which work together to provide numerous specialized public safety services to the community.
The Hurst Police Department is headed by Steve Moore who is the current chief of police. He joined the Hurst Police Department as an animal control officer in 1977. In 2008, he was appointed as the Chief of Police. Steve has held various positions in the department including community services officer, criminal investigations sergeant, patrol officer, patrol commander, detective, patrol supervisor, assistant chief of police administration and assistant chief of police operations.
