The Galveston Police Department is responsible for maintaining law and order in Galveston. The Galveston Police Department is headed by Henry Porretto who is the current chief of police. He is responsible for the direction of the department as a whole as well as supervising units assigned to his office. He started his career at Galveston Police Department as a reserve police officer in 1989 and transitioning to a permanent position in 1990 as a patrolman. He has experience working with SWAT Command Center, the D.E.A. Task Force and the Mobile Emergency Operations Center.
