The Duncanville Police Department in partnership with the community provides the residents of Duncanville with impartial, ethical and professional law enforcement service through a proactive approach in detection, prevention and investigation of criminal activity. The department provides 24-hour emergency services, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations and crime prevention through use of the community policing philosophy. The foundation of the Duncanville Police Department is defined by its members’ integrity and compassion.” The department has two main divisions that are further subdivided, these includes: Administrative Divisions, which is made up of Crime Prevention, Internal Affairs, Records and Training / Personnel. The second division is Operation Divisions which consists of Animal Control, Communications/ Southwest Regional Communications Center (SWRCC), Criminal Investigation Division, Jail and Patrol.
The Duncanville Police Department is headed by Robert D. Brown, Jr. who is the current chief of police. He began his career in law enforcement in Waco, Texas as a police cadet in June of 1982 and has over 30 years’ experience in law enforcement. He was appointed as the chief of police on February 5th, 2007. He is helped in his duties by Brian Heard, the Assistant Chief of police.
