The Cedar Hill Police Department is mainly focused to provide the highest quality service that promotes and maintains a safe environment in partnership with the community. The department has 67 sworn police officers and 21 civilian employees that are well equipped and willing to serve the citizens of the city. The department is made up of a number of divisions which include Administration, Criminal Investigations (person’s crimes, property crimes, and special investigations), Patrol (K-9 unit and Traffic unit) and Support Services (Animal Control, Alarm Unit, Police Records, Property and Evidence).
The Cedar Hill Police Department is headed by Steve Rhodes who is the current chief of police. He began his career in 1982 with the University of Texas at Arlington Police Department before joining the Cedar Hill Police Department in 1985. Rhodes has more than 28 years of experience in law enforcement, with 18 years as Police Chief. He has been involved in almost all divisions of the department including professional standards, traffic operations, community services, criminal investigations and patrol.
