The Burleson Police Department is responsible for the quality of life issues for the City of Burleson residents. The department is committed to community policing and has a reputation of partnerships with community groups while striving to work together with the city’s residents to solve problems. The department was the first to be accredited in Texas by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. It has been recently been re-accredited in 2012, maintaining its professional status on an international level.
The Police Department has the following divisions: Administrative Services (Communications Section, Criminal Investigations Section, Property and Evidence, Records Section, Recruitment and Hiring). The Burleson Police Department is headed by Billy Cordell who is the current Chief of Police. He is helped in his duties by Deputy Chief D. Sandifer, Deputy Chief C. Havens and Deputy Chief C. Aaron. In addition to the departments main duty of maintaining law and order, the department also runs other programs like victim assistance, Citizen Police Academy, D.A.R.E and Citizens on Patrol.

ROAD CLOSURE: East Hidden Creek Parkway is closed from the 900-blk through the 1200-blk (from Valley Terrace Rd to Monticello Dr) due to a gas line that was struck by construction equipment. Fire and Police Departments and Atmos Gas are on scene.

Burleson Public Safety is working a second accident on I-35W Southbound, in the 600-block of S. Burleson Blvd. This is a fatality accident so both I-35W and the Service Road have been closed while investigators work the scene.
